(1st Verse)
It’s 2 am, I’m calling your number.
It seems you want to forget my name,
It seems that you were the one who wanted the change.
It’s 2 am, I’m the one sitting back and beginning to wonder.

Chorus:
If we only laid out all of our cards,
I didn’t think you were bluffing.
We took nothing and made it something,
And broke and tore up our hearts.

(2nd Verse)
It’s 4 am, I’m so upset with myself.
It seems that you let me go when I was holding on,
It seems what I thought I was right I was wrong.
It’s 4 am, I’m the one who has to sit here and blame no one else.

Chorus:
If we only laid out all of our cards,
I didn’t think you were bluffing.
We took nothing and made it something,
And broke and tore up our hearts.

(3rd Verse)
It’s 6am, I’m the one who can’t sleep.
It seems that I was the one who didn’t learn.
It seems that I was the one who sat still while you turned.
It’s 6am, It seems like you were the one who got the best of me.

Bridge:
If I could turn back time I would have said the things I should.
If I could fast forward I would skip all the pain and only keep the good.
But I know deep down you were my skipping stone,
It’s time for me to figure out the rest out on my own.

Chorus:
If we only laid out all of our cards,
I didn’t think you were bluffing.
We took nothing and made it something,
And broke and tore up our hearts.

  1. My favorite line in all this is:

“But I know deep down you were my skipping stone. It’s time for me to figure out the rest on my own ”

Sometimes we need to feel pain to force us to take a closer look at ourselves and figure out what we want out of life. I see growth in the end therefore the pain was not in vain.

    Good stuff.
