I gave him hugs

image

All he seems to know is yelling.
I gave him hugs and kindness.
He acts up to get attention.

I gave him hugs and kindness.
He came back for more.
All he really needs is love.

He’s adopted.
He wants to know he’s worth it.
He wants to know he’s wanted.

I gave him hugs and kindness.
I made him feel important.
He needs to know someone cares.

  1. Kids do need attention and love more than all the darn things they ask for for Christmas. If they don’t feel loved, what is there to make them feel happy? This poem is really striking and hit home, as I am about to leave for my nephew’s bday party. He’s already got every toy you can imagine and I hope he’ll like my present (which is not a toy, but a baking set so we can bake together).

    1. Brilliant gift!
This kid is so used to being yelled at and punished that he has quite a reputation.

I’m trying a different approach and hoping it works. He’s really a sweet kids once you get to know him.

Happy birthday to your nephew. Hope he loves his gift. You’re a smart aunt!!! 😀

      1. I hope it’ll work, too. Usually they really just need someone who believes in them 🙂
My nephew was hyper excited about everything that went on, but my sister liked it! We’re going to plan a baking-afternoon soon 🙂
