Silence Kills

image

And the walls of courage have disintegrated,
Nothing about her emotions and thoughts are emancipated.
She is the only one that can bare the bottled truth.
The word rape is etched to her bleeding heart.

Scream,
Cry,
Bellow,
Silence kills.

Please try to speak.
You are the victim.

And the bruises and pain are a distorted color of agony.
She would give anything to erase the memory.
Nothing can ease her shame and wounds.
The word blame is sewn to her chest.

Scream,
Tear up.
Bellow,
Silence kills.

Please try to speak.
You are the victim.

Free yourself.

  1. I always have encouraged people who were victims of bullying, violence or sexual assault to speak out. I worked almost two years with children at a battered women’s shelter as their advocate. This was a beautiful, powerful reinforcement to those who may be scared to speak out.

      1. Glad to know that.
When something as traumatic as that happens you’ll either grow from it or be permanently stunted.
Your piece encourages the ones who may have been ‘stunted’ to move into growth.
