I don’t like him

image

He’s loud.
He’s obnoxious.
He’s simply absurd.

He paces relentlessly
as if to attract
everyone’s attention.

He tosses his ‘military’ status
into almost every conversation.
He believes his ‘status’
exempts him from the rules.

His perception of entitlement
is disturbing.
He expects respect
without first being respectful.

His personality is unappealing.
I don’t like him.

Semantics

image

Words.
Twisted, mangled, complex.
I break them down.
I tear them apart.
I search for meaning.
I decode hidden gems
the average eye won’t see.

Words.
I love them.
They have great power
when used wisely.
They give great strength
when understood.

Words.
She said,
“I’ll see you in a minute!”
I assumed she meant,
I’ll see you in roughly 1 to 5 minutes
ten minutes tops!
She showed up an hour later. Wtf!

Words.
He said,
“See you later…”
I assumed he meant,
See you later on today or
some time in the next 24 hours.
I saw him, 3 days later. Bummer!

Words.
Do you know
the power of your words?
Do you stand by your words?
Do you understand
how your words affect others?

Words.
Think about the things you say.
Don’t just use words
because you think
it’s what someone wants to hear.
Think before you speak
or don’t say anything at all.

Twist of Fate

(1st Verse)
You look at me like a stranger,
I know we are miles away from each other.
You don’t say much,
But you can’t get enough,
You know we are bound to be lovers.
So let’s make a toast to this long distant relationship,
If I have to wait for a lifetime for something as beautiful as this…
I will wait for you.

Chorus:
The best things in life are worth the wait,
You can call it destiny or a twist of fate.
The best things in life are worth waiting for,
I want you to ache, want your world to shake,
Want you coming back for more.

(2nd Verse)
You look at me like there is too much danger,
I know we are miles apart.
You don’t know what to do,
You know you have so much to lose,
You know damn well something is pulling on your heart.
So let’s make a toast to this long distant relationship,
Just like me I know you are waiting for that kiss..
I will wait for you.

Chorus:
The best things in life are worth the wait,
You can call it destiny or a twist of fate.
The best things in life are worth waiting for,
I want you to ache, want your world to shake,
Want you coming back for more.

Bridge:
I’ve been missing you like you can’t believe.
I’ve been missing you so much that I’m weak in the knees.
Somewhere in this land of broken stars,
I’m loving what I see in your broken heart.
So who are we kidding when you know everything is aligned.
Someone like you isn’t easy to find.

Chorus:
The best things in life are worth the wait,
You can call it destiny or a twist of fate.
The best things in life are worth waiting for,
I want you to ache, want your world to shake,
Want you coming back for more.

Key to the Shackles

I removed the rust from the shackles.

I removed the dirt from my swollen eyes.

I removed the razor edge ground beneath my feet.

I removed the drowning of my sorrows.

~

The key to the shackles disappeared.

~

I removed the color from my shadowless sky.

I removed the blood from my scars.

I removed the stitches myself.

I removed the band aid to display the torture.

~

It doesn’t matter what I removed if I can’t find the key.
