Worth saving…

Confused,
she attempted to let go
of a situation she couldn’t comprehend.

Uncertain,
she pondered the reason
for her presence in his life.

Frustrated,
she questioned if what they had
was worth saving.

Relieved,
he asked her to be patient,
to give him a little more time.

Surprised,
he held on tighter
than she thought he ever would.

Elated,
she was comforted to know
he cared enough to ask her to stay.

Don’t believe them!

The ones who claim
to be better than the rest,
are the ones who end up
hurting us the most.
Why?
Because we
actually believe them!

Don’t fall for their
hypnotizing song and dance,
for the lies they feed us
are not fit
for human consumption.
Instead,
toss their servings of drivel
to the swine,
for we all know
they’ll eat anything!

Waves of Agony

image

Waves of agony swirl through me:
Sometimes I can’t eat;
Other times I eat too much.

Waves of agony confine me:
Some days I find strength to press on;
On occasion all I want to do is cry.

Waves of agony will wash me:
Learning to swim and not sink;
Hoping to make it to shore.

Missing Nina

image

Clenched in her fist
She held the red pendant
Given to her
By her best friend Nina.

The memories of
Their childhood fun together
Flooded her mind endlessly.
She was motionless.

How sad to think
Her best friend was now gone!
Such a beautiful spirit.
Such an independent soul.

The funeral was just 2 hours away.
She still had no clue what to say.
A eulogy? How inappropriate!
Nina visits her all the time.

They sit and talk and laugh for hours.
To her, Nina was very much alive.
How does one speak of someone
Who is alive as if they were dead?

“Mary honey, it’s time to go say goodbye…”
“OK mom, I’ll be right there!”
Mary walked into the chapel
And stood at the opening of the casket.

There, in a beautiful pink dress,
Laid her childhood friend.
Leaning in close,
Mary kissed her cheek.

Then, she whispered in Nina’s ear,
“How do I speak of you
Without using the phrase
I see dead people?”

There was a knock on the door…

Jack:
Mary, you’ve been
locked in there for ages.
Please let me in?
Can we please take about this?
Mary please let me explain?

Mary had been crying for so long that she drifted off to sleep. She hadn’t thought about her friend Nina much since she left Missouri. She needed to get away from her problems for a while. Perhaps it was time to pay Nina’s grave a visit.

In flight

image

Between the wing and the engine;
The sound of flight up high in the clouds;
Returning to what once was home;
In hopes of taking one last glance
Of a life filled with both pleasure and pain.

Turning the leaf of one chapter
In anticipation of what wonders lie ahead.
Seeing every word, reading between the lines;
Blurred vision slowly becoming clear.
A new chapter has begun.

Things I thought I’d never say…

image

This is not a restaurant!
And even if it were,
I’d never let you
Act like this to a waiter!
Now sit down,
Eat what’s in front of you,
And stop being a little brat!!!!

*******

Oh the wonderful joys of parenting!!! 😀

Your words…

image

Your words —
They caress mind,
Stimulate my soul,
Awaken my senses.

I find you lurking
In all my thoughts
Seeping into my subconscious
Captivating my every waking moment.

My many broken pieces,
They do not scare you.
Instead, you draw closer
Wrapping me in the blanket of your love.

In your caring soul,  I find safety.
In your sweet smile,  I find hope.
In your alluring voice,  I find wisdom.
In your blue eyes,  I see myself anew.

My days of late, feel Enchanted,
As though inside a fairytale,
With mystical unicorns,
And Knights on white horses.

Can I be your damsel in distress?
Can I fall helplessly into your arms?
Will you rescue me from all my pain?
Will you love me, all of me, scars and all?

Meeting you has been a nice surprise.
I’m honored to be your friend, your ear,
And utterly delighted to be your muse.
Who knows what tomorrow holds?

But until then I’ll simply sit here
Completely intoxicated
And hopelessly mesmerized
By your words…

Damn Fine Lemonade

image

I haven’t been in much of a creative mood lately. My mind is swamped with planning for a major event which is now only 8 days away. And of course,  when it rains it pours,  so toss in a few unexpected circumstances which left me pretty pissed off and yep,  my brain has chosen to run away from all the madness. No creative juices flowing today just good old ‘venting‘!

Sometimes I fantasize of a grand vacation,  just enjoying the surf, sand, cocktails, good music, shopping, good company and being pampered for a few glorious days. But of course I’d have to be a Ms Delilah Fox or a Mr Byron Belle,  because ain’t no such niceties happening to this gal anytime soon. All I see ahead is work, work, work! No rest, no vacation, just hustle!

Funny thing is, if I were to actually meet someone named Delilah Fox or Byron Belle they’d probably be in their own personal hell and wishing they were someone else. Go figure!

See,  life is complicated no matter who you are,  and as much as we’d like to think ‘the grass is greener on the other side’,  in reality it’s not! We can either choose to live in the moment, making a damn fine lemonade with those lemons life has tossed us, or we can gripe about the fact that lemons are sour wishing we had apples instead.  Hey, some apples are sour you know, better be careful what you wish for!

So, this is my life. I’ve accepted my mountain
truckload basket of lemons and I’ll be looking up new lemon recipes whenever I get tired of lemonade as I plan on making the best of this life I’ve been given. Hands up if you’re with me! ☺

Thanks as always for stopping by. Sometimes I have to write to cleanse my system. Writing is my therapy! Thanks for listening. Happy Monday to all of you!

Hugs,
A🌷

Building Bridges…

image

The bridges we build
Can lead us to places unknown.
Friendships that become
more than just a passing glance
can start with just a simple smile.

A polite “Hello” or “How are you? ”
can lead to a mutual understanding.
Things we have in common
are what binds us together
and makes us feel like we belong.
No one wants to feel alone.
We are all pieces of a large puzzle,
each of us having a unique purpose.

The bridges we build
need not be traveled alone,
for we can all use a hand to hold.
But if a bit of solitude is necessary,
please don’t break those bridges down
after you’ve crossed,
for others may want to follow
in your footsteps.

Be proud of your journey,
and remember to be present
in all the moments of your life.
May the bridges you cross
lead you to your destiny.
May your life story
keep traveling
long after you’ve passed on
from this world,
continuing to build bridges
as did you.
