Waves of Agony

image

Waves of agony swirl through me:
Sometimes I can’t eat;
Other times I eat too much.

Waves of agony confine me:
Some days I find strength to press on;
On occasion all I want to do is cry.

Waves of agony will wash me:
Learning to swim and not sink;
Hoping to make it to shore.

Your words…

image

Your words —
They caress mind,
Stimulate my soul,
Awaken my senses.

I find you lurking
In all my thoughts
Seeping into my subconscious
Captivating my every waking moment.

My many broken pieces,
They do not scare you.
Instead, you draw closer
Wrapping me in the blanket of your love.

In your caring soul,  I find safety.
In your sweet smile,  I find hope.
In your alluring voice,  I find wisdom.
In your blue eyes,  I see myself anew.

My days of late, feel Enchanted,
As though inside a fairytale,
With mystical unicorns,
And Knights on white horses.

Can I be your damsel in distress?
Can I fall helplessly into your arms?
Will you rescue me from all my pain?
Will you love me, all of me, scars and all?

Meeting you has been a nice surprise.
I’m honored to be your friend, your ear,
And utterly delighted to be your muse.
Who knows what tomorrow holds?

But until then I’ll simply sit here
Completely intoxicated
And hopelessly mesmerized
By your words…

A dash of salt

A dash of salt
To season All the half truths
You told me

A dash of salt
To heal All the wounds
You gave me

A dash of salt
Tossed over my shoulder
As I curse your name

A dash of salt
Is what you are now
May you melt in the falling rain

Finding strength in friendship…

img_0785-33

image

In the silence
When I can’t hear your voice
I try to imagine the direction
I should look to find you.

I’m not great
With such spacial orientations.
North,  South,  East, West?
They all seem to leave me puzzled.

But somehow, without fail,
I seem to find your heart
Because you are searching
For mine too.

Your soul reaches over
The many obstacles
Which others find daunting
And it finds mine.

I keep thinking
One day your eyes
Would dig too deep
And see unsightly parts of me,

And just like that
Your soul would finally stop
Searching for mine
And disappear into the shadows.

So I try to think of reasons
You shouldn’t look so closely,
But you’re not the superficial type
You live for depth, you’re not afraid.

You don’t mind getting messy
And it amazes me
That you aren’t deterred
By the state of my garden.

You’re willing to help me
Till the stubborn soil
To soften and mulch,
To plant new seeds of love.

Like the seasons
My Spring will soon come.
And hopefully,  those seeds
Will bloom into something wonderful.

So I hope you’ll stick around
To bear witness to your handiwork,
To see how much I’ve grown
Because of you.

No need to explain

image

There’s no need to explain why I’m here
With you such small-talk is unnecessary.
You get me better than anyone
Yet with such intimacy
You never force me to stay.

You know it’s better
That I come in search of you
Than to have you come barging in my door —
It’s the only way I’ll fully appreciate your love.

You know I always come back,
I can’t stay away too long.
Your humility and grace are powerful;
I’m drawn to the peace that surrounds you.

I crave peace —
That satisfaction of solving the puzzle —
Perhaps because my existence
Is froth with complications.
Yet you seem to take delight
In seeing me in action
Trying to solve for “X”  —
The algebraic equation of my life.

You’re waiting patiently
For me to say it,  aren’t you?
Okay then,  well here goes…
I’m here because I missed you.
I will always come back to you
For in you I am truly alive.

This is what I crave…

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes! – that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Well, this is the beginning of it…

Here are the clues:

  • Not wanting to talk to/ see anyone else.
  • Internal turmoil over right vs wrong.
  • Feeling vs thinking: The heart wants what it wants and often overrides rational thought.
  • The object of their affection can do no wrong.
  • Everything is amplified: Magnificent, fantastic, amazing!!!
  • Emotions so strong they are powerful yet dangerous, fierce yet sweet, comfortable yet disturbing, amazing yet messy.
  • They can’t stay away from each other: They are miserable apart yet so delightfully messy together.

Can you solve the puzzle?

Yes, it seems this is the beginning of it,  they’re falling in love…

Fix me

Fix me

You listened
When the others didn’t.
You made noticeable progress
In just two sessions
Which might have caused friction
With your superiors.
You had great plans
To heal me completely
But you were rebuked for your bravado…
I saw the deflated look on your face.

You asked questions
To get to the root
Of the my problem,
Then explained a
A possible plan of action.
You wanted to demonstrate your knowledge
But your superiors wouldn’t let you.

Too busy following protocol
To get the most out of the “system”,
They had their reasons
For shutting you down.
You’re new,
So I guess your zeal to heal
Will one day be circumvented
By an allegiance to the “system” too
But I secretly hope that doesn’t happen
For you are excellent at what you do.

How sad that the “system” is placed
Above the health of the patients!
Unfortunately, it’s the American way.
But for now your heart
Is in the right place,
For all you wanted
Was to make me well.
How frustrating it must have been
To be limited by their ulterior motives!

I just wish you were around
To finish what you started,
But your time was up
And now, so is mine.
Our paths may never cross again
But at least I’m glad to know
You sincerely wanted to “fix me”.
