Depth.
Our conversations
should be meaningful
deeper than just the surface.

Worth.
Our values should go beyond
the man-made idols we create.
Melancholy regret
should be something
we try to avoid
as we strive in earnest
to learn from our past mistakes.

Respect.
In order to respect each other,
we must first respect
the Creator who made us.
He gave us guidelines
for how we should treat
our fellow man.
No one should be made
to feel like a toy —
played with then discarded
when the amusement dwindles.

Balance.
Be fair, it’s that simple!
What’s good for you
should also be good for me.
Entitlement is the reward
of effort and input.
Words and actions
should be in sync.
A gift given from the heart
should not come
with strings attached.
Let reciprocity be free
and not pressured.

Love.
Show me your heart
as I will show you mine.

I don’t like him

image

He’s loud.
He’s obnoxious.
He’s simply absurd.

He paces relentlessly
as if to attract
everyone’s attention.

He tosses his ‘military’ status
into almost every conversation.
He believes his ‘status’
exempts him from the rules.

His perception of entitlement
is disturbing.
He expects respect
without first being respectful.

His personality is unappealing.
I don’t like him.

Can’t get enough of you…

image

Your lips are moving
But I’m the only one
who can hear you.
See, you’re a memory
Floating around inside my head.

Your voice registers
Deep within my soul
As the video of you
Replays in a continuous loop.

I’m holding on
To the memory of you
As tight as I can
Because I simply can’t get
Enough of the song
you create within me.

This is what I crave…

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes! – that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Strangers Collide…

image

Her:
Hair pulled back;
Face fresh,  vibrant,  beautiful.

Him:
Tall, well-dressed,
Gentle eyes,  kind smile.

He held the door for her
Then tipped his hat
As he ushered her in.

She blushed delightfully
Then curtsied as she entered
To show her amusement.

He said,
“Hello and goodbye fair lady “.

She said,
” My good sir, I rather just say hello”

Craving Comfort

image

Craving comfort,
Craving your arms.

Craving comfort,
Craving your voice.

Craving comfort,
Craving your smile.

Craving comfort,
Craving your lips.

Craving comfort,
Craving your heart.

My best friend

image

You know my secrets.
You know my pain.
You know my heart.
You know my soul.
You know my dreams.
You know my wishes.
You know my desires.

I run to you when I’m happy.
I run to you when I’m sad.
I run to you when I’m afraid.
I run to you when I’m in love.
I run to you when I feel anger.
I run to you when I feel alone.

You make me laugh.
You make me think.
You make me dream bigger.
You make me strive harder.
You make me want to be a better person.

I can’t imagine my life without you.
I can’t imagine life without my best friend!

May her Blaze consume you

image

May the Lady in your life
Set your heart on fire.
May the Blaze consume you.

May the love you have for her
Be the best you’ve ever had.
May she be the one
To fulfill all your desires.

May you never take
Such a love for granted.
For in this, our state
Of perpetual pandemonium,
She may be the only one, besides God,
To make you feel sane.
